TRAUMA-INFORMED
SOMATIC SUPPORT.
TRAUMA LIVES IN THE BODY.
RELEASE YOUR WOUNDS.
Understanding Trauma and HOW IT AFFECTS YOU.
TRAUMA COMES FROM THE GREEK WORD FOR ‘WOUND’.
IT’S AN INNER WOUND THAT AFFECTS OUR MIND, BODY AND SPIRIT.
What is Trauma?
A Guide to Trauma-Informed Healing.
Trauma isn’t only the result of big, life-changing events — it can also come from the smaller, everyday hurts, stresses, and disappointments that accumulate over time.
Trauma can be any experience that overwhelms the nervous system and leaves us without adequate support. It’s when too much happens, too fast, and too soon for us to process. As a result, we are left feeling powerless or helpless, with a lost sense of control, dignity, connection, belonging or meaning.
When our natural fight-or-flight responses are interrupted or left incomplete, the nervous system can develop habitual patterns of tension, shutdown, or reactivity. This can show up as anxiety, exhaustion, or disconnection, and keep us from feeling fully alive and well.
This work supports the nervous system to gently move toward regulation, balance and greater ease.
“trauma is not what happens to you.
It is what happens INSIDE YOU as a result of what happens to you.
TRAUMA is an INNER INJURY, a lasting rupture or split within the self due to difficult or hurtful events.
The essence of trauma is disconnection from ourselves, SEPARATION FROM THE BODY AND EMOTIONS.
Trauma is what we hold inside in the absence of an empathetic witness.”
- Gabor Maté, author of When the Body Says No.
How My Trauma-Informed Practices Support Your Healing.
I provide a safe and supportive space for somatic awareness and nervous system regulation.
Through body-centered practices, we’ll work together to explore habitual patterns of tension and emotional reactivity, and support the nervous system to find more ease and resilience.
The aim of this work is to build awareness and develop self-regulation skills that you can use long-term to reconnect with your inner sense of safety, wholeness and vitality.
Please note: I do not work with cases of severe trauma or PTSD. In these instances, please seek psychological care.
